Description: The plumage colours range from black-brown to dark brown, with a striking golden-buff crown and nape, which give the bird its name. The head is smaller and the tail appears longer than the bald eagle's. Immature golden eagles in flight flash white underneath at the base of the primary feathers and at the base of the tail. There are four toes on its foot, three at the front and one at the back. The toes are grayish yellow with black claws. Golden eagles are "booted," their legs are feathered to the toes. Plumages of both sexes are similar; females usually have a wider and more distinct sub-terminal band. Golden Eagles are more closely related to hawks, like the Red-tailed Hawk, than to Bald Eagles. A pair of Golden Eagles remains together for life.
Flight: Golden eagle active flight is with slow wing beats. Golden eagles are masterful flyers, often hunting from the air and soaring on strong currents. They can stoop at high speeds and have been reported to attain speeds greater than the peregrine falcon in a dive.

APPEARANCE: Hestia is of an average height with an average build, toned muscle balancing the curves of her breasts, hips and shapely behind. Her most striking feature is her eyes, which are a bright shade of blue and fringed by long, black lashes that curl up at an attractive angle. Her dark, naturally wavy hair she prefers to wear loose around her shoulders but if she is particularly busy or focused, she will automatically twist it behind her head and jam a quill – or something odder - in it to hold it in place. The amount of caffeine she consumes daily from her coffee junkie habits gives her enough energy needing to be expended that her fair cheeks often show a slight pink flush, as though she has just recently been active. Her wardrobe is varied but she does like comfort over form, so she can often be seen at work in robes with jeans and trainers underneath. She is fond of graphic tees so her off-work hours are spent in those.
HABITS: Drinking coffee when she is sleepy, bored, busy, nervous, excited... you get the picture; sticking random objects into her hair – quills, Muggle pens, sticks, and so on – to keep it out of her face when concentrating on something important, as her hair always has to be out of her face when she is very focused and the action is rather automatic; twisting herself into odd seating positions when nervous/anxious

FIRST IMPRESSIONS: Funny, bright, lively, a bit odd
PERSONALITY: Hestia is the type of person who, to put it simply, enjoys life and all it brings to her. Her good sense of humor and natural optimism help keep that love for living alive. She loves her job, her friends and her life on the whole, with one exception. She is a bit of an odd duck at times but makes up for it with her own unique brand of wisdom and sharp intellect. Sometimes others do not completely understand her actions or tastes, such as the collection of oddities that litter her office and home. She has a tendency to tell things as they are and think that is an excellent method of communicating, but others do not always feel the same. It is a loveable sort of odd, however, and it would be hard to find a person who could hold a grudge against her.

Hestia loves to be outdoors and absolutely loves to travel, so she will be the first to take field work over office work. She is very active, one of her reasons for becoming an Auror, as she knew it would be work that would test her physical endurance as well as her mental endurance. She seems to be always on, never really taking a break, which often proves to be tiresome to those around her. She is very fearless, which has proven useful again and again as even with injury, she goes right back to doing just as she did, thinking that time will be the last time. It is part confidence in herself and part obliviousness to the realities of some things.

Hestia has never been able to commit to a relationship, the one exception to her happiness with her life. No one has yet seemed good enough for her, so while she longs to have a family – after all, she is in her forties now with no prospects in sight – she does not think she will be getting that anytime soon. Instead, she delights in doting on other people's families and uses that to fill the hole in her life. She also tends to gather and collect things of all kinds, from Chocolate Frog cards to first edition novels to funny portraits, an odd need to have completeness around her when there is not quite that in her life.
STRENGTHS: Energy – when others would be ready to give up and throw in the towel, Hestia still gives her all to the job; generosity – she is a completely giving person, from putting her future on hold to take care of her sick mother to heping out at the orphanage whenever she can in her free time, Hestia simply likes to give. With her friends and loved ones and even perfect strangers, she will share practically anything... except her coffee, then she becomes a greedy brat; luck – Hestia seemingly has far too much good luck, from her narrow escapes with danger than might have been so much worse were it another person to her endearingly annoying habit of getting away with saying practically anything, she just seems unable to do anything wrong – except with romantic relationships, then it all comes apart at the seams
WEAKNESSES: Romantic commitment – simply put, Hestia cannot seem to make the mental shift in any relationship from semi-serious to serious. She has had a few serious boyfriends, even a few live-in relationships but not one she felt compelled to marry and have a family with; lack of tact – tact and Hestia will never be close bedfellows, as she likes to say as she is thinking and if it insults or upsets someone, oh well, that is life. She does get that some things can be insulting but she would never want someone to sugarcoat something to her so she will not do if for another; restlessness – both physically and interpersonally, Hestia cannot seem to keep still. One minute, she will be perched on the desk of a colleague discussing a report and the next she will be four desks down, raiding a candy jar. She needs to be kept active, either physically or mentally, or she gets cranky

HISTORY: Born the second child of Michael and Tracey Jones, Hestia entered the world with the same sort of energy she would continue to display through her life, wailing to bring down the roof but as healthy as could be. She was doted on by her older brother Joseph, who was often the one responsible for wearing Hestia out a bit so she would not tear the house apart. The child of two Muggleborns, there was never any expectation for magic talent from either child, but Hestia showed it at a young age when they found her giggling in the laundry room, having just wished the family cat's hair into a violent shade of yellow-green.

The Hat barely touched her head before declaring her a Ravenclaw the night Hestia arrived at Hogwarts, seeing the rare gift in Hestia of not only wishing to seek knowledge for knowledge's sake, but also being able to relate the information learned to others in terms they understood. Always an incredibly intelligent child with big dreams, Hestia latched on to the goal of becoming an Animagus with rapt focus early on, combining natural talent with genuine hard work to exceed all of Minerva McGonagall's expectations on the path to registered Animagi status. Active and athletic, Hestia also played on her house Quidditch team in a variety of positions, her skills on the pitch versatile, even if not quite exceptional.

She graduated in June 1976 with an Animagi certification and the intent to go into Auror training, as she had always been raised to fight for the right thing and Hestia knew the right thing was freedom for everyone from persecution. However, her mother fell ill just after Hestia's graduation and Hestia instead took off time to help take care of her mother until Tracey's death in the winter of 1978, even though such a thing was not strictly necessary. Hestia simply could don no else. During the time her mother was ill, Hestia became close friends with the Healer assigned to her mother, Teaghan Abbott, a woman she had known in school due to being a few years apart in the same house. That friendship continued after Hestia's mother's death and Hestia became close to Teaghan's daughter Hannah as well as friends with Teaghan's husband Dominic.

After a several month long, self-imposed refresher in advanced magic studies, Hestia started started Auror training in June 1979 with a war as her training ground, finishing in 1982 (which is why she was not a part of the first Order). In the years following her certification, Hestia quickly advanced through the ranks, but she had her Animagi certification, a job she loved and unlimited potential for challenges and traveling, so she felt no need to compete for the top spots among the Aurors.

In 1992 she nearly became a mother with her then live-in boyfriend Andrew, a Muggleborn wizard who managed Flourish & Blotts at the time. Hestia had fallen ill with a stomach bug that potions just were not taking care of quickly enough and the viral infection affected her contraceptive measures. Four weeks later she thought the stomach virus had returned, only to learn she was six weeks pregnant. She was elated, as she had not thought she would ever be a mother at this rate, and though Andrew was shocked, he slowly grew into the idea. In an unprecedented move, Hestia corralled her addition to coffee to just one cup in the morning and began to do all the slightly obsessive things expectant mothers do. However, shortly before eighteen weeks, Hestia lost the baby, not during any fieldwork gone wrong, just at work doing nothing more than sitting at her desk.

Devastated, she took three weeks off from her job and traveled to various exotic locales and when she returned that was the end of it, it had to be for Hestia because it was so painful, Andrew moved out and she took back up all her terrible habits again and moved on with her life. She has always known, looking back, that Andrew would never have been 'the one' but she had wanted the baby and was fully prepared to raise it herself once the relationship reached its predicted end.

The return of Voldemort was almost, in a way, a welcome focus for Hestia as she could channel her upset and anger over her loss into doing what was necessary to fight back. Dumbledore himself approached her in 1995 to join the reformed Order and, honored beyond belief, she accepted. That began a flurry of secret meetings and planning, revelations of things Hestia had never dreamed and then finally, in September of 1996, the death of a dearly loved friend when Death Eaters killed Teaghan Abbott. One of the first Aurors on the scene, it was Hestia who was faced with the horrifying painful job of consoling an openly distraught Dominic Abbott, having to be strong for him even though her grief was great.

With that grief to color her motivations, Hestia fought as dedicatedly as possibly to seeking out the Death Eaters before they could bring the world down around them all. Eventually the final stand was made and the side Hestia fought for was victorious, with many losses but also the gain of renewed hope in a world without blood violence.

HISTORY DURING THE PAST YEAR: After the war, Hestia found a new non-work interest in Andromeda's orphanage, helping out whenever and however she could. In some ways, doing that healed a wound on her heart that had not had the chance to mend properly, as she could see over the months the improvement in the children brought there and knew she had been part of it. Beyond the occasional tip about fugitive Death Eaters, work seemed to begin to return to the normal of before the war and Hestia turned her focus to the necessary task of restoring order to a world still trying to find it. The recent activity of the Death Eaters, however, made it clear things needed to be done now and Hestia is determinedly focused on making certain they are all brought to justice. Unlike some of her colleagues, she does not want to see each one Kissed, as she finds that horridly inhumane, but she does want to see justice done.
